Happy Holidays! A reflection on 2022 and a look ahead to next year…

Our CEO, Matt Iliffe, reflects on 2022 and gives a peek at what’s to come in 2023.

Matt believes design can transform the world. As a co-founder of Beyond, he's dedicated to crafting frictionless, inclusive experiences through design and technology with experience that spans startups to Silicon Valley giants. As Beyond's CEO and Managing Director of Europe, he manages key relationships across Beyond's global hubs.

2022 has been a valuable year of growth and evolution for Beyond. We’ve entered new markets, developed new services, and made some amazing work for clients all over the world.

Our motto has long been #MakeItBetter, and we focused intently this past year on developing leaner ways of working to deliver high-quality products, faster. Building on our remote-first culture, we aligned our teams and processes across time zones, enabling greater collaboration. We also opened new hubs in Lisbon and Mexico City — and added our first team member in Canada — to enable greater scale. And, we built a partner network to help us deliver high-quality production services for less.

Each step took us closer to our ‘future of work’ — one that produces the best possible outcomes, nets efficient, valuable experiences for our clients, and creates equitable and flexible environments for our people. In that spirit, we doubled down on our commitments to two community programmes that provide pathways to working in our industry:

  • Flipside is a skills development programme that provides agency experience to underserved young people in London so they can develop product design skills that give them a leg up.
  • BRIDGEGOOD is a not-for-profit organization in Oakland, CA, that provides equitable tech access, design opportunities, and professional resources to early-stage job seekers.

We'll soon welcome another Flipside cohort in London, and we'll continue to support the amazing BRIDGEGOOD organization in California. 

As we look ahead to 2023, we know our clients are likely to be asked to do more with less, so we’re making investments to help our partnerships go further. Based on all that we learned in the progress we made in 2022, we developed a set of principles and processes that codify what it means to partner with us, and we’ll be sharing those in the new year.

As ever, though, we’ll still be focused on high-quality consultancy, thinking and craft. We remain committed to helping to navigate what lies ahead for our clients, and we look forward to making a positive impact through our work together.
