A new creative hub in Mexico City
We’re excited to announce our new creative hub in Mexico City! CEO Matt Iliffe talks about our remote first model and our partnership with EQUALS TRUE.
In 2020, we were forced to go remote – replacing commutes into or across the city with home comforts, scheduling Google Meet calls, and exploring more flexible ways of working. Two years later, we, like many others, don’t want to go back to how it was, but instead, want to embrace what we’ve learned working remotely and take advantage of the many opportunities remote work can afford us. We’ve made the decision to be a remote first company: embracing working from home, but coming together when needed to collaborate, celebrate and connect.
Embracing a remote first model allows us to offer radical flexibility to our teams, while presenting us with the opportunity to hire outside of our office locations. That means the potential to hire a more diverse workforce, and access a broader talent pool across the world. Our roots will always be intertwined with London, San Francisco, and New York -- but these cities are foundational, not exclusive, to the Beyond story. Going remote first for us means exploring the opportunity to hire outside of our existing office locations, seeing the potential to hire a more diverse workforce, and accessing a broader and larger talent pool.
Rather than thinking in terms of studios, we now think in terms of hubs. A hub being a center of talent, not necessarily connected to a physical space. The flexibility of hubs enables us to support more locations and hire a more diverse workforce.
In 2020 we opened a hub in Lisbon, Portugal to support our growing technology practice. In 2022, we are excited to tap into a new dynamic talent pool with the opening of our new Mexico City hub. Conveniently located in the central time zone, Mexico City has an impressive design and start-up culture. It’s an international city, with a depth of talent. This hub will mark our first important step into the LATAM market, giving our work new perspectives, enriching our culture with new people and new ideas.
We are in the early stages of building a design team; a collection of UX and Visual designers. Through our partnership with Equals True, a Mexico-based talent partner who specialize in building diverse and inclusive teams in LATAM, we’re excited to announce three new team members joining the team – the first of many.
This is an extremely exciting opportunity for Beyond, and I very much look forward to seeing our growth in the LATAM region.
