Manager, Content and Community

The most important part of this job is that the candidate must have demonstrated extensive social media experience. This means that the person is actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. and is well-connected with the broader social media world. The second important part is that the candidate must be able to think strategically, but focused on the primary role requirement of tactically executing programs.
The Content and Community Manager is responsible for contributing to both Beyond’s overall social engagement and marketing strategies, and client accounts and campaigns. The position requires a blend of editorial proficiency, social media expertise, technical understanding and client-facing experience, to ensure social engagement and community management is fully integrated with all other strategic program efforts for clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute day-to-day online community management strategies, including the editorial voice, moderation policy, escalation and customer service procedures, community engagement and outreach initiatives.
- Manage communications with clients on ongoing community programs, updates and recommendations.
- Source and manage relationships with community tool partners to support new business opportunities.
- Act as an advocate of a social and engagement approach within the company, contributing blog posts and other creative assets.
- Monitor and comment on trends in online community tools, trends and application, acting as company spokesperson within the online community/social media industry.
- Monitor the competition and be aware of market changes and developments.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience, Skillsets:
*3-5 Years Work Experience.
*Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in journalism, English, business and/or technology.
*Considerable experience in writing/publishing, running a blog or contributing to an online publication.
*Extensive and expansive industry knowledge of new media, social media, marketing, advertising and Publishing 2.0, technology and gadgetry, start-up culture, Silicon Valley/Alley news and next-generation online applications.
* Social media tools and techniques, Marketing (traditional, PR, new media, guerilla and ‘word of mouth’), Technology, Project management, Editorial/Publishing.
*Coding knowledge, IT experience, PowerPoint/Excel proficiency, other assorted geekery encouraged.
* Agency Experience a plus.
Track Record:
• Demonstrated passion for social media and the Internet. Proven track record in social media, blogging, publishing and evangelizing on behalf of brands and/or self.
• Significant experience with online social networking, the blogosphere, search tools and general Web 2.0 (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Wikipedia, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executives via presentations and verbal communications is required.
