I don’t know if anyone in the audience really knew what to expect from last Wednesday’s It’s Nice That future:content event and even now they are probably still scratching their heads – well, at least I am. Though overall it was a great day of uncommonly nice looking power-points and provoking ideas from some of the creative industry’s superstars, so perhaps it didn’t really matter that the theme was a bit ambiguous.
As far as digital content goes Sony Music’s creative directors (Phil Clandillon and Steve Milbourne) have a bit of a knack for churning out virals, the success of which they say is mainly down to good old fashioned demographic research, and with their list of internet classics including AC/DC Excel Music Video and MGMT iPhone Cover it’s undeniable their methodology works.

Though it wasn’t all screens and pixels – the incredibly adorable Anna and Britt spoke about their publishing house Visual Editions (basically a two finger salute to the digitalization of print) where they are constantly redefining the concept of the physical book. And if your unconvinced that books can be still be exciting, here’s a lovely video of the public’s reaction to their latest publication Tree of Codes by Jonathan Safran Foer.
As for It’s Nice That I am confident that they will take this ambiguous beginning and build it into something truly wonderful.
